    Gerard has over 34 years of work experiences that span across the areas of Production & Operations, Human Resource & HR Development ; in both a multi-national Japanese semi-conductor and electronic plant as well as a locally customer service oriented entertainment company with over 23 locations through-out this country. He is also well versed in Kaizen (Continuous) activities in the Operations, Quality Issues, 5S, Coaching, Safety and Health, HR & Disciplinary Matters and Quality Management Systems; to its current ISO 9001:2008 version.


    He rose from rank and file; beginning from the rank of supervisor until the managerial position and now into training, facilitating, lecturing and consultancy. He is a very hands-on person and believes in teambuilding processes that involve simple job based assignments to return-of-investments types of project (s) that are linked to the overall company’s business objectives. Therefore, he has been very involved since his long stint in the Japanese company (of 25 years) by training and developing teams; through activities such as Quality Control Circles (QCC) & 5S. Many of his QCC teams have achieved Gold or 5 Star ratings from their participation in regional and national conventions organized by Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC). These were due to the results that they had produced to improve their company’s workplaces efficiency and productivity matters as well as displaying high level of team participation and presentation skills displayed at the respective conventions. One of the QC Circles that he facilitated named “Challengers” went on to win the inaugural President’s Award in the All Shin Etsu Handotai’s QCC Convention 1988 held in Tokyo Bay Hilton, beating 12 teams from other group’s plants from Japan, America and Europe. He had been awarded Best QCC Facilitator in 1988 & 1990. During his stint with the Japanese company, his work, team projects and QCC assignments had made him to travel to Japan (on many occasions), Taiwan, USA, Thailand and Singapore.

    For his Japanese company’s and his contributions towards HR training and development activities,  Gerard was featured in the Human Resources Development Fund’s (HRDF) documentary film (of 28 minutes) in 1996 that was circulated to all HRDF contributing companies.  A short clip of that documentary can be viewed below.

    Over the last years, he has been very involved in the 5S implementation and assisted in 5S certification processes. The company that he last worked for was duly certified (5S-Quality Environment Practices) by Malaysian Productivity Corporation in 2009 and now more locations have 5S activities implemented.

    Gerard holds a Master Degree from Frederick Taylor International University, USA; specializing in Operations Management and also independently studied and passed 3 additional modules in Human Resources. He also holds a Diploma in Management from the Institute of Supervision and Management (ISM), United Kingdom, Lead Auditor of Quality Management Systems and Certificate of Proficiency in QC Tools & Methods from Shint Etsu Handotai, Japan.

    He is a Certified Trainer with accreditation from Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (Certificate No: TTT/2768) and also has a Certificate of Practice (Certificate No: ACP-2011.2) doing 5S assessing & auditing after successfully attending Malaysian Productivity Corporation’s “Environment Management  System (5S) Specialist Programme” .

    His passion for learning and sharing has made him coach people to succeed in their respective work careers; has compelled him to continue to be a trainer and facilitator, since his days with the Japanese company. He believes that each human, is different and individually unique and he coaches and even mentors them; to draw out that personal value-added attributes in them. He has trained a few thousand participants over his years of training, facilitating and lecturing.

    Currently he is training a group of indigenous students (Orang Asli) on every Thursdays for a period of six months at a training centre in Rawang; his social contribution to training and developing these young Malaysian youths.
